Telangana Government Amends G.O. 33 on Domicile for Medical Admissions
The Telangana government has issued key amendments to Government Order (G.O.) 33 concerning domicile rules for medical admissions, following the Supreme Court's directives. This move provides relief to children of government employees who were transferred to other states.
According to the revised G.O., four categories of students will be granted exemption in determining domicile. Children of state government employees, All India Services (Telangana cadre), Army and Police personnel, and employees of government organizations and agencies, who had to study outside Telangana due to their parents’ transfers, will now be considered local students. Even if they did not study in Telangana for four consecutive years, submitting relevant certification of their parents’ transfer will suffice.
Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences has provided a special opportunity for students from these four categories to apply. Applications can be submitted until September 11, after which objections will be reviewed and the final list published, as stated by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nandakumar Reddy.
Due to these amendments, MBBS and BDS counseling will commence from September 15. The counseling process will be completed in four phases. Across the state, there are a total of 8,515 MBBS seats, including 4,090 in government colleges and 613 seats under the All India quota. The remaining seats will be filled through university counseling.
