Revanth Reddy: Good News from Telangana Government for Women’s Groups

The Telangana government has announced great news for Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the government has approved ₹344 crore worth of interest-free loans to help support women’s groups across the state.

Out of the total amount, ₹300 crore is for rural women SHGs, while ₹44 crore is for urban SHGs. These funds will be deposited into the SHG bank accounts between July 13 and July 18. The state finance department has already released the funds to SERP (Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty).

Ministers and MLAs will take part in cheque distribution events across all constituencies. They will also hand over accident insurance and loan insurance cheques. This step is aimed at reviving the interest-free loan scheme which had stopped during the previous BRS government, which left dues of over ₹3,000 crore. Now, the Congress government is taking steps to restart and support women’s financial growth.
