The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a key step to provide universal health insurance for all families in the state. As part of the implementation of the Universal Health Policy, the government has approved the tender process for selecting the insurance company. The draft RFP (Request for Proposal) and draft contract agreement (DCA) have been approved.
The APMSIDC (Andhra Pradesh Medical Services & Infrastructure Development Corporation) has been authorized to call for tenders. With the Cabinet already approving the scheme, this new decision brings the implementation closer.
As per the government decision, families with an annual income below ₹5 lakh will be classified as BPL (Below Poverty Line). These families will get free medical treatment coverage up to ₹2.50 lakh from the insurance company, and if costs exceed this limit, the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust will cover up to ₹25 lakh.
Even APL (Above Poverty Line) families will be provided free medical treatment coverage up to ₹2.50 lakh. This ensures that every family in Andhra Pradesh will have access to quality healthcare.
