The Andhra Pradesh Government has announced major relief for electricity consumers by reducing the FPP (Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment) charge from 40 paise to 13 paise per unit, effective this month. Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar stated that the previous government had burdened people—especially poor and middle-class families—by collecting excessively high charges.
During his visit to Anakapalli district, the minister inaugurated newly constructed power substations at Chowduvada and Kinthali villages in Madugula constituency. Speaking at the event, he criticized the earlier administration for imposing heavy FPP charges and confirmed that the current reduction will provide significant financial relief to consumers.
He further explained that the government is strengthening the state’s power infrastructure. As part of this initiative, 69 new power substations are being constructed across 11 districts at a cost of ₹250 crore. Additionally, the government will install free solar power units for 20,000 SC and ST beneficiary families, promoting clean and sustainable energy.
Minister Gottipati also expressed condolences to the families of two individuals who recently died due to electrocution. On behalf of the government, he handed over cheques worth ₹5 lakh each as financial assistance.
