IMD: Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal Today, Rain Expected in Andhra Pradesh for 5 Days

A surface circulation is currently active over the north Bay of Bengal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure area is likely to form today due to this system. A trough is also extending from the Arabian Sea through Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Coastal Andhra. Because of this weather pattern, IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rains in some parts of Coastal Andhra from today till Monday.

Winds along the north coastal Andhra region may blow at speeds of 50 to 60 kmph. As the sea is expected to be rough, the Amaravati Weather Department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until Sunday. The Disaster Management Authority’s MD, Prakhar Jain, also urged the public to stay alert and take necessary precautions during this rainy period.

Due to the weather system, several districts including Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram, Anantapur, and Prakasam received light to moderate rainfall yesterday. The highest rainfall was recorded in Kanchili of Srikakulam district with 69 mm.
