Cyclone Crosses Coast – Heavy Rain Alert for Andhra Pradesh & Telangana
The depression formed in the Bay of Bengal crossed the coast near Gopalpur in southern Odisha. Due to its impact and the presence of a trough from Telangana to Maharashtra, the IMD has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for both Telugu states over the next two days.
Impact in Telangana:
- On Saturday and Sunday, heavy rains are expected in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Hanamkonda, Siddipet, Sangareddy, and Mahabubnagar districts – yellow alert issued.
- Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal districts are also likely to receive heavy rains.
- Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) are expected.
Impact in Andhra Pradesh:
- Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Prakasam, Kurnool, and Nandyal districts may witness moderate to heavy rainfall.
- Other regions likely to see light showers.
- Coastal regions may face strong winds at 40–60 kmph.
Authorities have advised people to remain alert, avoid venturing into low-lying areas, and follow safety precautions during heavy rains.
