IMD Alert: Low-Pressure System on September 13, Widespread Rains Likely in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana till Month-End

Rains Expected in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for Next 4 Days – Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal

For residents of the Telugu states struggling with heatwaves, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has delivered some relief. A low-pressure system is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal on September 13. This system is expected to intensify gradually and move west-northwest towards Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana. IMD predicts widespread rainfall in several parts of the Telugu states until the end of the month.

According to the Amaravati Meteorological Center, light to moderate rainfall is expected across various regions of the state over the next four days. Yesterday, light showers were recorded in Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, Parvatipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts.

Despite the rainfall forecast, temperatures in many coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh—including Kakinada, Narsapur, Machilipatnam, Gannavaram, Bapatla, Kavali, and Nellore—remain 2 to 4 degrees above normal. Meanwhile, the ongoing severe low-pressure system in the neighboring regions of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan could develop into a cyclonic circulation by Sunday, IMD added.
