Hyderabad city was thrown into chaos after heavy rains lashed the metropolis on Friday night. The downpour led to severe flooding, with the Musi River swelling dangerously following the opening of twin reservoirs’ gates. The overflowing river entered the MGBS bus station, trapping hundreds of passengers, including women and children, in fear and distress.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy immediately reviewed the situation at midnight with top officials. He directed the police, GHMC, and water board authorities to ensure the safe evacuation of stranded passengers. Meanwhile, in Musanagar near Chaderghat, around 200 houses were submerged, forcing residents to flee with their belongings to safer places.
Rescue operations were intensified with NDRF and SDRF teams deployed in low-lying areas. The CM also instructed officials to take strict measures to prevent traffic chaos across the city. The floods also damaged agricultural fields around Musi and Esi streams. While panic gripped Hyderabad residents, authorities assured that relief and rescue operations were being carried out on a war footing.
