Heavy Rains with Thunderstorms in Andhra Pradesh Districts Today

  • Low-pressure area likely over Bay of Bengal on Sept 25
  • May intensify into a cyclone by Sept 27

Andhra Pradesh is witnessing intensified rainfall due to a trough and a possible low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal.

 According to the Disaster Management Authority, Rayalaseema and South Coastal districts will receive heavy rains today. Districts like Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kadapa, Annamayya, Chittoor, and Tirupati are likely to witness heavy downpours with lightning. Farmers and laborers working in fields have been advised to stay safe.

 The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a low-pressure area over the East-Central Bay of Bengal on September 25, which may intensify into a cyclonic storm by September 27 and move towards the Odisha coast.

 Due to this system, widespread rains are expected across North Coastal Andhra districts from Sept 23 to Oct 2.
