Seven Hills Express: Fire breaks out on the train, passengers panic and scream in fear

Seven Hills Express Narrowly Escapes Major Mishap – Fire Erupts Near Chigicherla

A major accident was narrowly avoided on the Tirupati–Secunderabad Seven Hills Express after a fire broke out due to a technical fault. The incident caused panic among passengers but was brought under control quickly thanks to the alertness of the railway staff.

The train, bearing number 12769, departed Tirupati for Secunderabad on Monday night. At around 8:55 PM, as the train neared Chigicherla railway station in the Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, a sudden fire erupted near the wheels of one of the rear coaches due to a brake binding issue.

Passengers noticed smoke and flames and started screaming in fear. A guard stationed at the rear of the train immediately noticed the commotion and informed the loco pilot, who acted without delay and brought the train to a safe halt.

Railway staff, including the guard, acted swiftly and extinguished the fire near the wheels of the affected coach. As a result, the train remained halted near Chigicherla for about 30 minutes.

After the flames were completely extinguished and the technical issue was temporarily resolved, the train resumed its journey toward Secunderabad. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and passengers breathed a sigh of relief.

Railway authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
