Flood Situation in Assam Gets Worse; 46 Dead in Northeast India
The flood situation in Assam and other parts of Northeast India has worsened. As of June 5, 2025, 46 people have died across seven states due to heavy rains, floods, and landslides. Assam is the worst affected, with 19 deaths and over 6.79 lakh people impacted in 21 districts.
The Brahmaputra River and eight other rivers are flowing above the danger level. Over 14,000 hectares of crop land have been damaged. Around 41,000 people are staying in 190 relief camps, and roads, schools, and power lines have also been affected.
In Arunachal Pradesh, floods and landslides have hit 3,000+ people. In Manipur, the Assam Rifles are providing clean water, medical camps, and helping rescue stranded people. Relief work continues across the region.
The weather department warns of more heavy rain, which may make the situation worse in the coming days. People are advised to stay alert and follow government updates.
