Telangana Begins Depositing ₹2,349 Crore into Farmers' Accounts under Rythu Bharosa Scheme

Hyderabad, June 12: The Telangana government has started transferring ₹2,349 crore into farmers’ bank accounts under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, which provides investment support to farmers.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched the fund transfer, benefiting around 41.25 lakh farmers across the state. He announced that ₹9,000 crore will be deposited over the next nine days.

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that on the first day, funds were released to farmers owning up to two acres of land, covering 39.16 lakh acres.

Under Rythu Bharosa, farmers receive ₹12,000 per acre annually in two installments—one for each crop season. This scheme, launched in January 2024, replaces the previous Rythu Bandhu program, which provided ₹10,000 per acre per year.

Speaking at a farmers’ interaction event, Rythu Nestham, in Rajendranagar, CM Revanth Reddy said farmers are the backbone of the state and essential for forming any government. He claimed the Congress government has spent ₹1 lakh crore on farmer welfare in just 18 months.

Criticizing the previous BRS-led government, he said Telangana was pushed into a deep financial crisis due to their 10-year rule. “The former government left us with ₹8.2 lakh crore in debt. Now, the state struggles to pay fee reimbursements and waive farm loans,” he said.

Despite challenges, the current government has implemented several welfare schemes for farmers and is committed to their well-being, the CM added.
