The Telangana government, in coordination with the central government, is taking key steps to strengthen the railway network across the state. Plans are now underway to establish three new high-speed rail corridors connecting the state capital Hyderabad with other major cities in India, including Chennai, Bengaluru, and Amaravati. The central government has expressed readiness to support the construction of these prestigious bullet train corridors.
To review the progress of these projects, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a high-level meeting with senior railway officials today. Top railway engineers also arrived in Hyderabad for the discussion.
Alignment plans for two corridors have already been finalized. The Hyderabad-Chennai high-speed rail corridor will pass through Narkatpally, Suryapet, and Kodad instead of Kazipet, with approximately 6–7 stations planned within Telangana. The Hyderabad-Bengaluru high-speed rail corridor is proposed to be constructed parallel to the Nagpur-Hyderabad-Bengaluru Greenfield Expressway, with 4–5 stations expected within the state.
Meanwhile, discussions on the Hyderabad-Amaravati corridor are ongoing. Telangana has requested the central government to construct this high-speed rail corridor alongside the Greenfield Expressway. Additionally, a Regional Ring Rail line is proposed to be built alongside the Regional Ring Road (RRR), requiring a land width of 45 meters. The CM’s review also covered new railway lines including Vikarabad-Krishna, Dornakal-Gadwal, and Kalvakurthy-Macharla.
Experts believe that these projects will significantly improve travel convenience, boost regional economic development, and strengthen Telangana’s railway network.
