Telangana Heavy Rains: Schools Closed in Five Districts

The Telangana Education Department has issued important orders in view of the heavy to very heavy rain forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. All government and private schools in Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts will remain closed for two days — today and tomorrow.

In the Greater Hyderabad limits, all government and private schools will run only half-day classes for these two days. The orders were issued on Tuesday night by School Education Department Director Naveen Nicholas.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed that all department employees cancel their leaves for the next three days. Reviewing the situation via video conference from the Hyderabad Command Control Center, he directed ministers and officials to stay alert. Helicopters will be kept ready for airlifting in case of sudden floods, and a high alert has been issued in Hyderabad. IT companies have been advised to allow employees to work from home.
