Private schools across Andhra Pradesh are closed today as a mark of protest. School management associations announced the bandh against the alleged harassment and unilateral actions by certain local education officials. They clarified that the protest is not against the government but only to express their concerns.
The associations said that some field-level officers are treating school managements unfairly. They alleged that warning messages are being sent repeatedly and schools are being excessively monitored, which is causing mental stress among the management teams.
The managements are particularly troubled over pressure related to RTE (Right to Education) admissions. They say they are being forced to admit students without proper documents. They also expressed frustration over repeated show-cause notices and threats to cancel school recognition. To strongly respond to this harassment, all private schools in the state have jointly decided to close for one day.
