Andhra Pradesh Rains: Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal Brings Heavy Showers to AP

The Amaravati Meteorological Centre has announced that Andhra Pradesh will receive widespread rains for the next five days. Due to a low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal tomorrow, several parts of the state may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. Officials have urged the public and farmers to stay alert. Today, heavy rain warnings have been issued for 12 districts.

According to private weather agency Skymet, the low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal may intensify into a cyclone and is likely to cross the coast by Saturday. As a result, rains are expected in many parts of the country from tomorrow until the 20th of this month.

For Andhra Pradesh, heavy to very heavy rains are forecast in parts of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema from tomorrow till Friday. On Tuesday, districts including Alluri Sitarama Raju, East Godavari, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Eluru, West Godavari, NTR, Krishna, Palnadu, Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool, and Nandyal are likely to receive heavy showers.

Already, several districts in the state have experienced rainfall in the past two days. From Sunday to Monday morning, heavy rains fell in parts of YSR, Kurnool, Nandyal, Sri Sathya Sai, Chittoor, NTR, and Tirupati districts. Yesterday, heavy rains were also reported in Palnadu, East Godavari, Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna, and Bapatla districts.
