Amaravati, May 28: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Union Cabinet approved the four-lane Badvel-Nellore corridor.
The Chief Minister said this approval is a big step for the growth of Andhra Pradesh. It will improve road connections in the region and create new opportunities for young people. He thanked Prime Minister Modi and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for supporting this project.
Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan also thanked the Prime Minister and Minister Gadkari on social media. He said the new highway will reduce travel distance to Krishnapatnam Port by nearly 34 km, improve industrial connections, and help build better roads. This project will support the development plans for Andhra Pradesh and India’s vision for 2047.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by the Prime Minister, approved building the 108 km long four-lane Badvel-Nellore Corridor. The project will cost about Rs 3,653 crore and use the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) model.
The corridor will connect important industrial areas in Andhra Pradesh, linking Kopparthy (Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor), Orvakal (Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor), and Krishnapatnam (Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor). This will help improve India’s logistics performance.
The corridor starts from Gopavaram village in YSR Kadapa district on National Highway NH-67 and ends at Krishnapatnam Port junction on NH-16 in SPSR Nellore district. This will reduce the travel distance to Krishnapatnam Port by 33.9 km, saving one hour of travel time, reducing fuel use, and lowering pollution and vehicle costs.
