Union Cabinet to Hold Key Meeting Today After ‘Operation Sindoor’ Success and India-Pak Ceasefire

New Delhi, May 14:
The Union Cabinet will meet today in New Delhi after the success of 'Operation Sindoor' and the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

This is the first full cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since tensions reduced with Pakistan. The meeting will focus on India’s post-conflict strategy and a review of national security.

The ceasefire was announced on May 10, after three days of military action triggered by a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. In response, the Indian Air Force launched strong airstrikes, reportedly destroying 11 Pakistani airbases.

Interestingly, the ceasefire announcement was first made by US President Donald Trump, with confirmation from US officials stating that Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio coordinated closely with both India and Pakistan.

India has appreciated the US's role but stressed that its actions under Operation Sindoor were independent and defensive.

Before today’s cabinet meeting, PM Modi held a high-level security review with top leaders including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs.

The cabinet is expected to finalize future military and diplomatic steps, maintain border security, and decide on any possible future talks with Pakistan under strict terms.
