Many Indian Visa Applications Are Rejected for Schengen Countries

Every year, millions of tourists travel around Europe, and many need Schengen visas to enter. Recently, more and more visa applications are being rejected, causing big financial losses for the travelers, especially many from India.

According to recent data, India is the third highest country for Schengen visa rejections. Last year, Indian citizens applied for about 1.108 million visas, but 165,000 of those were rejected. This caused a financial loss of around ₹136 crore for Indian applicants, as reported by the European Commission.

A report by Condé Nast also said that worldwide, 1.7 million Schengen visa applications were rejected last year. The visa fee was increased last year from €80 to €90, with an average fee of €85 per application. This means that just from visa rejections, a huge amount of money—about ₹1,410 crore—was collected globally. The numbers show how difficult it is becoming for travelers from India and other countries.
