Telangana Higher Education Council has taken a key decision. It is planning to introduce new courses in degree colleges. The main aim is to help students get job opportunities immediately after completing their degree. For this, a new syllabus along with new courses is being designed. If everything goes as planned, these courses may start from the next academic year.
Officials said that around 18 new courses, including BA in Defence Science and Security, are being considered. These will first be launched in selected colleges. Based on the student response, they may be introduced in all colleges across the state. Higher Education Council officers said the final implementation will depend on approval and planning.
Along with new courses, the council is also planning to bring a common syllabus for all degree courses. Students will be given material with 30 to 40 questions per subject for better preparation. This change may also begin from the next academic year. Similarly, the syllabus of JNTU (Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University) is also being revised. A new syllabus named R-25 is being prepared to replace the old R-22. It will focus more on internships and job-oriented learning. The council wants to promote research culture and aims to design the syllabus accordingly. All the new courses will be introduced after getting approval from UGC.
