To bring significant improvements to the lives of fishermen, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan held discussions with government officials and marine experts. The focus was on enhancing fishing capabilities and exploring additional income opportunities for the coastal fishing communities of Uppada.
At a review meeting held at the camp office, Pawan Kalyan assessed the implementation of the 100-day plan along with Panchayati Raj and Rural Development officials, senior authorities from the Fisheries Department, scientists from the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), and experts from Visakhapatnam.
During his recent visit to Kakinda, issues raised by fishermen from coastal villages in the Pithapuram constituency were discussed, focusing on actions already taken under the 100-day plan and steps that still need to be implemented.
The meeting emphasized providing adequate facilities in Uppada coastal fishing villages and exploring ways to improve livelihoods. Special attention was given to training fishermen in effective fishing techniques, skill enhancement, and provision of necessary infrastructure. In addition, Dr. Joy K. Kijakudan, Chief Scientist of CMFRI Visakhapatnam, provided valuable suggestions for increasing fishery productivity and wealth, which were recommended for implementation by the Kakinda District Collector.
The review meeting was attended by Panchayati Raj officials, Rural Development Commissioner Mailavarapu Krishna Teja, Fisheries Commissioner Ram Shankar Nayak, Kakinda District Collector Shanmohan Sagili, SP Bindu Madhav, and Pada Project Director Chaitra Varshini, among others.
