GST Changes Are a Festival Gift to the People, Says Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan Welcomes GST Reforms, Calls Them a True Diwali Gift

Amaravati, Sep 4: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Thursday welcomed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms approved by the GST Council, calling them a true Diwali gift to the nation.

In a post on ‘X’, Pawan Kalyan said the reforms reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day assurance from the Red Fort and mark the beginning of next-generation tax reforms.
“I especially welcome the relief given to the poor, middle class, farmers, and healthcare sector, along with the complete removal of GST on education and insurance. These reforms will ease the struggles of countless families,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the GST Council for focusing on people’s welfare. He said that after raising the income tax exemption limit earlier this year, the GST reforms have now become a true Diwali gift.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also hailed the GST changes as pro-poor and growth-oriented, welcoming the revised slabs for essentials, education, healthcare, and agriculture.

BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari reminded that the reforms were in line with PM Modi’s Independence Day announcement of Next-Generation GST Reforms.

Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar also praised the decision, stating that the tax cuts will boost the economy, support MSMEs, farmers, and businesses, while reducing the burden on families.

The GST reforms, announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after the 56th GST Council meeting, will come into effect from September 22, 2025.
