Mega DSC: New EWS Rule for Married Women Candidates

EWS Certificate Issue for Married Women in Mega DSC: Husband’s Income Now Mandatory

A new controversy has arisen in the Mega DSC selection process regarding EWS (Economically Weaker Section) certificates for married women candidates. The School Education Department has issued a surprising directive stating that EWS certificates submitted in the father’s name will no longer be valid. Instead, only certificates issued based on the husband’s income will be considered for married women.

During the DSC application process, candidates were asked to specify whether they were married or unmarried. Married women submitted their EWS certificates based on their parental income, just like other reservation documents. However, complaints from several districts have reached the government, claiming that some women who married into affluent families were obtaining EWS benefits using their parental income.

In response, the State School Education Department instructed district education officers to re-examine the EWS certificates of married women candidates. Officials identified 35 married women in one district who had submitted EWS certificates in their father’s name and advised them to obtain new certificates based on their husband’s income.

Consequently, most of these candidates rushed to mandal revenue offices and submitted the updated certificates by Thursday evening. However, frequent changes and the introduction of new rules during certificate verification are causing considerable confusion among candidates.
