AP Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Warning for Several Districts

Weather conditions in Andhra Pradesh have changed abruptly. Due to the influence of surface cyclones, the State Disaster Management Authority has warned of heavy thunderstorms in several districts over the next 24 hours. People are advised to remain alert, and farmers and laborers working in the fields should move to safer areas.

According to the disaster management authority, heavy rains are possible in some areas of Nellore, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts. Thunderstorms may also occur in Konaseema, East and West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, and Prakasam districts. The Meteorological Department has indicated rains with gusty winds in Rayalaseema and scattered rains across Coastal Andhra. Particularly in Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra, scattered thunderstorms are expected.

Currently, a surface cyclone extends from Madhya Pradesh through Telangana and Coastal Andhra to the Bay of Bengal. Another cyclone continues from South Karnataka through Tamil Nadu to the Comorin area. High heat intensity across the state has contributed to weather instability. Yesterday, Ongole in Prakasam district recorded 6.4 cm of rainfall, and Rajam in Vizianagaram district recorded 4 cm.

Meanwhile, changes in the Bay of Bengal are also anticipated. ISRO meteorologists have stated that a surface system may form in the northern Bay around September 22 or 23, and clarity will soon emerge on whether it develops into a low-pressure area. Later, another system is expected in the mid-Bay of Bengal around September 26 or 27, which may intensify further.
