Rohit Sharma Creates History with 7000 Runs and 300 Sixes in IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians' star batter and “Hitman” Rohit Sharma made history in IPL 2025 by achieving two rare milestones. During the thrilling Eliminator match against Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur, Rohit became only the second player in IPL history to cross both 7000 runs and 300 sixes.

Rohit had a slow season, averaging just 15 runs before this match. But he delivered when it mattered most. In this knockout game, he played a brilliant innings, scoring 81 runs off 50 balls. His aggressive batting included 4 big sixes and 7 fours, helping Mumbai Indians post a strong total of 228/5 in 20 overs.

With this knock, Rohit became the second player after Virat Kohli to reach 7000 IPL runs, reaching the milestone in the 9th over with a six off Rashid Khan.

Rohit had some lucky moments too. On the last ball of the 2nd over, Coetzee dropped a catch when Rohit was on just 3 runs. In the next over, Mohammad Siraj found the edge of his bat, but wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis missed the catch. Rohit made full use of these chances and dominated the bowlers, especially Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan.

By hitting four sixes in this match, Rohit also crossed 300 sixes in IPL history. He is now the second player to do so, after Chris Gayle (357 sixes). Rohit has 302 sixes, while Virat Kohli is in third place with 291.
