PM Modi’s Visit Brings New Hope for Progress in Jammu & Kashmir

A New Chapter for J&K: PM Modi to Launch Vande Bharat Train to Srinagar

Jammu, June 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Jammu and Kashmir on Friday to flag off the Vande Bharat train from Katra to Srinagar and launch or lay foundation stones for development projects worth ₹46,000 crore. People across the region are hopeful that this visit will mark a new beginning of growth and connectivity in the Union Territory.

The long-time dream of the Kashmiri people — a smooth journey between the Valley and the rest of India — is now becoming a reality. With top-level security from SPG, army, paramilitary forces, and police, arrangements are in place for a peaceful event. Locals are excited as they believe this day will change the future of Jammu and Kashmir.

Until now, the Jammu-Srinagar highway was the only main road, often closed due to rains, landslides, or rockfalls. This made transport costly and slow, especially for farmers and artisans. But with the start of the Vande Bharat train, people expect cheaper, faster travel and goods movement. Businessmen, students, patients, and tourists will all benefit. The train link from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is also seen as a symbol of India’s unity and progress.
