India U-19 Squad Announced for England Tour; Ayush Mhatre to Captain, 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Included
India's Under-19 cricket team is gearing up for a crucial tour of England next month, with the official squad now confirmed. Leading the side will be Mumbai's Ayush Mhatre, while 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi makes a headline-worthy entry into the team.
Ayush Mhatre, 17, brings IPL experience to his leadership role, having represented Chennai Super Kings. Suryavanshi, who turned heads with a blistering 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans while playing for Rajasthan Royals, adds firepower to the batting lineup. Despite his young age, he has already featured in five first-class and one List-A match for Bihar, showcasing his early promise in domestic cricket.
Joining Mhatre in the leadership group is Mumbai wicketkeeper-batsman Abhignyan Kundu, who has been named vice-captain. Kundu adds further depth, having played nine first-class and seven List-A games.
The tour kicks off on June 24 and includes a 50-over warm-up match, followed by a five-match Youth ODI series against England U-19. It will conclude with two Youth Test matches, offering a comprehensive test of the young team’s mettle.
