EPFO New Services for PF Account Holders: Now Check Balance Without Internet
The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced new services that allow PF account holders to easily access their account balance and other details without the need for the internet. This is a great relief for those in areas where internet access is limited. EPFO has introduced two new ways to check the PF balance: through missed calls and SMS services, which are free of cost. The services are available in multiple Indian languages, including Telugu.
Missed Call Service for Quick Balance Check
EPFO members who have activated their Universal Account Number (UAN) can simply give a missed call from their registered mobile number to 99660 44425 to receive their PF balance details instantly. After dialing the number, the call will be disconnected automatically after two rings, and an SMS with the PF balance and the last contribution made will be sent to the registered mobile number. This service is completely free of charge and doesn't require internet access.
SMS Service in Multiple Languages
For those who prefer to receive details via SMS, EPFO has provided another option. By sending an SMS with "EPFOHO UAN" to the number 77382 99899, you can receive your PF balance and the last contribution in the default language (English). If you want the details in Telugu, you can send "EPFOHO UAN TEL" instead. Similarly, information can be received in Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali.
Importance of These Services
These offline services ensure that even people without smartphones or internet access can easily stay updated about their provident fund savings. The services provide a seamless way for workers to stay informed about their retirement savings, without facing any hurdles.
Easy UAN Activation
If your UAN is not yet activated, you can easily do so by visiting the EPFO website and clicking on the "Activate UAN" option on the homepage. Enter the required details such as UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number, and captcha. After submitting the OTP sent to your mobile, you can set a password and log in to access the services.
Updating KYC Details
To avail of these services, it is essential to update your KYC details. You can do this by logging into the EPFO member portal and updating Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account details in the 'KYC' section.
