Captain Gill’s Unbeaten Century Lifts India to 310/5 on Day 1 of Second Test

India posted a strong total of 310/5 at stumps on Day 1 of the second Test match against England, held at Edgbaston. Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with a superb unbeaten century (114*), helping India recover from a tough situation.

Earlier in the day, India lost KL Rahul for just 2 runs. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a solid start, scoring an aggressive 87. After losing Karun Nair (32), Rishabh Pant (25), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (1), India were struggling at 211/5.

Gill then built a steady, unbeaten 99-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, who remained not out on 41. Gill reached his 7th Test century in 199 balls and became only the second Indian captain after Azharuddin to score back-to-back hundreds against England. Among England bowlers, Chris Woakes took 2 wickets, while Cars, Stokes, and Bashir got one each.
