The ruling BRS party got a shock in the results of Upadhyay MLC election held before the Telangana assembly election campaign . The results were unexpected. The Upadhyaya MLC of the joint Mahbubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad districts showed his dominance in the first round of election counting.
In the results released after midnight on Thursday, AVN Reddy, the candidate supported by the BJP, won the Upadhyaya MLC election of the joint Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad districts. He won by a margin of about 1,150 votes over his nearest candidate PRTUTS candidate Gurram Chennakesavareddy.
