PM Modi Receives Grand Welcome in Brasilia with Cultural Fusion of Shiva Tandava and Samba Rhythms

Brasilia, July 8:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and grand welcome as he arrived in Brasilia for his official state visit to Brazil. The event featured a unique blend of cultures — Indian Shiva Tandava Stotram chants were beautifully combined with Brazil’s vibrant Samba Reggae rhythms, symbolizing unity in diversity.

The event was organized by the Indian diaspora and Brazilian performers, showcasing a rare mix of traditions. Also featured were Amazonian chants, reflecting a deep spiritual connection between Indian and Brazilian cultures.

Padma Shri Jonas Masetti, a well-known Vedanta teacher in Brazil, shared his thoughts:
"It was a deeply powerful and emotional moment. The knowledge of Vedanta has transformed our lives in Brazil — not just individually, but socially too. This is our way of saying thank you to India."

Jyoti Kiran Shukla, Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), said:
"This programme was a special gift to the Indian community. Seeing Shiva Tandava and Amazonian chants performed together shows the beautiful cultural link between India and Brazil. At the Vivekananda Centre, we’re researching the similarities in language and meaning between these traditions."

Kenlyn, a yoga teacher and attendee, expressed her excitement:
"I didn’t perform, but watching my fellow students was an honour. Seeing PM Modi in person was powerful — his presence and compassion could truly be felt."

A performer and long-time Vedanta student added:
"I’ve been learning Vedanta for 10 years with Acharya Jonas Masetti. Chanting these mantras in front of PM Modi was a moment of deep pride and gratitude."

PM Narendra Modi later posted on X (Twitter):
"Landed in Brasilia a short while ago. The Indian community gave me a heartwarming welcome. It shows how deeply connected they remain to their Indian roots."

PM Modi arrived in Brasilia after a productive visit to Rio de Janeiro for the 17th BRICS Summit. He was welcomed at the airport by Brazil’s Defence Minister Jose Mucio Monteiro Filho.

During his time in Brasilia, PM Modi will meet President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to discuss key bilateral issues and strengthen India-Brazil relations.
