Amravati, Oct 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth around Rs 13,430 crore in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
These initiatives cover key sectors including industry, power transmission, roads, railways, defence manufacturing, and petroleum and natural gas.
At an event in Kurnool, PM Modi will officially launch the projects and address a public gathering. The occasion, themed “Super GST – Super Savings”, is part of the state government’s campaign to raise awareness about recent GST reforms and promote fiscal efficiency. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has invited the Prime Minister to speak at the event.
Before the ceremony, PM Modi will perform Pooja and Darshan at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Srisailam, Nandyal district, followed by a visit to the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra.
In Kurnool, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Transmission System Strengthening project at Kurnool-III Pooling Station, involving an investment of over Rs 2,880 crore. This includes the construction of a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line from Kurnool-III Pooling Station to Chilakaluripeta, enhancing transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA. The project will facilitate large-scale renewable energy transmission, strengthen the national power grid, and support sustainable growth.
PM Modi will also lay foundation stones for the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool and the Kopparthy Industrial Area in Kadapa, developed jointly by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (APIIC), with a total investment exceeding Rs 4,920 crore. These state-of-the-art industrial hubs feature plug-and-play infrastructure and a walk-to-work concept, expected to attract around Rs 21,000 crore in investments and generate nearly 1 lakh jobs, boosting industrial growth and global competitiveness in Rayalaseema.
In the road sector, PM Modi will lay the foundation for a six-lane Greenfield Highway between Sabbavaram and Sheelanagar, worth over Rs 960 crore, aimed at easing congestion in Visakhapatnam, facilitating trade, and creating employment opportunities. Additionally, he will inaugurate six road projects valued at Rs 1,140 crore, improving safety, reducing travel time, and enhancing regional connectivity.
For the railways, the Prime Minister will lay foundation stones and dedicate several projects worth over Rs 1,200 crore, including the Kottavalasa-Vizianagaram Fourth Railway Line, the Rail Flyover between Pendurti and Simhachalam North, and the doubling of the Kottavalasa-Boddavara and Shimiliguda-Gorapur sections, improving operational efficiency and passenger convenience.
In the energy sector, PM Modi will dedicate the Srikakulam–Angul Natural Gas Pipeline of GAIL India Limited, built at a cost of around Rs 1,730 crore, spanning 124 km in Andhra Pradesh and 298 km in Odisha, enhancing natural gas supply to industrial and domestic consumers. He will also inaugurate Indian Oil’s 60 TMTPA LPG bottling plant at Chittoor, established at Rs 200 crore, serving over 7.2 lakh customers across seven districts in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
To strengthen defence manufacturing, PM Modi will dedicate the Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru, Krishna district, set up by Bharat Electronics Limited at Rs 360 crore. The facility will produce cutting-edge electro-optical systems for the Indian Armed Forces, promoting self-reliance in defence production and generating skilled employment in the region.
