PM Modi Meets CP Radhakrishnan After Vice Presidential Victory

New Delhi, Sep 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met C.P. Radhakrishnan and congratulated him following his election as the 15th Vice President of India. This marks Modi’s first official interaction with the newly elected Vice President, who will also serve as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi wrote, “Met Thiru CP Radhakrishnan Ji and congratulated him on winning the Vice Presidential election.” Radhakrishnan, former Governor of Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu, secured 452 first-preference votes, defeating opposition candidate Justice (Retd) B. Sudarshan Reddy, who received 300 votes.

President Droupadi Murmu, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Ram Mohan Naidu, among others, extended their congratulations. President Murmu noted Radhakrishnan’s decades of experience in public life and wished him a successful tenure. Amit Shah highlighted his grassroots journey and administrative acumen, while Nitin Gadkari emphasised his democratic values. Ram Mohan Naidu praised the victory as a reaffirmation of India’s vibrant democracy.

Radhakrishnan’s election as Vice President is a significant step, strengthening India’s parliamentary democracy and representing the country’s values on both national and global platforms.
