Warm Welcome for PM Modi in Maldives
On July 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Velana International Airport in Male, Maldives, to a warm and grand welcome. Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu personally received him at the airport. Traditional songs and chants of "Vande Mataram" created a friendly atmosphere, showing the strong cultural bond between India and Maldives.
Chief Guest at Maldives’ 60th Independence Day
PM Modi is visiting Maldives on the invitation of President Muizzu to attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour. This is Modi’s third visit to the Maldives and the first visit by any world leader since President Muizzu took office. This visit symbolizes the growing friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Regional Cooperation
During the visit, both leaders will review the progress of the India-Maldives Joint Vision for Economic and Maritime Security, signed in October 2024. The talks will focus on key areas like infrastructure, defense cooperation, and regional security under India's Neighbourhood First policy and the Vision MAHASAGAR initiative. The visit also marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Maldives.
