APSRTC Expands Bus Services in Andhra Pradesh for Women

Following the implementation of the “Stri Shakti” scheme in Andhra Pradesh, passenger traffic on APSRTC buses has significantly increased. To address this, RTC Zone-1 Executive Director Brahmanand Reddy stated that key measures are being taken, including the procurement of new buses and long-term planning. During his visit to the Parvathipuram Manyam district RTC depot, he reviewed current operational conditions.

Reddy announced that 98 new buses would be allocated to the unified Vizianagaram district, which would considerably ease passenger inconveniences. “Through the Stri Shakti scheme, we are striving to provide better services to women. The availability of new buses ensures hassle-free free travel for women,” he said. He also mentioned that by 2028, all depots in the state will gradually receive electric buses, and older buses will be upgraded with modern facilities.

Acknowledging the shortage of drivers and conductors in APSRTC, Reddy said temporary measures like hiring “on-call drivers” are being used, and permanent solutions are being planned. He added that additional buses for Parvathipuram have been requested to the government. Later, RTC employee union leaders met Reddy to discuss their concerns about work burden and vacant staff posts. The ED assured that all proposals would be reviewed, and solutions would be provided.
