Low-Pressure Area in Northwest Bay of Bengal – Heavy Rain Alert for Andhra Pradesh
A low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to bring heavy rainfall across Andhra Pradesh, the Meteorological Department has warned. An orange alert has been issued for Coastal Andhra districts, while Rayalaseema districts are under a yellow alert.
According to officials, the low-pressure system has also developed an associated cyclonic circulation. It is expected to gradually weaken while moving in the west-northwest direction. However, its impact will trigger widespread rainfall across the state.
-
Heavy rains are expected in many parts of North Coastal Andhra.
-
South Coastal Andhra may also receive heavy showers at isolated places.
-
Along the coast, strong winds with speeds of 35–40 kmph are likely to blow during the rains.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until conditions improve.
