The United States has taken another key decision by temporarily halting student visa interviews at its embassies across the world. On Tuesday, official instructions were issued to all U.S. embassies through a diplomatic cable.
The administration under Donald Trump is preparing to impose stricter regulations even on student visas. With the U.S. increasingly focusing on reviewing foreign students’ social media accounts, many applicants from various countries have begun to express concern about their future in the United States.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in the order that the suspension of student visa interview scheduling would come into immediate effect. He also mentioned that preparations are underway to review the necessary social media accounts. Until further instructions are issued, diplomatic missions have been clearly instructed not to allow any additional visa appointments.
However, interviews that have already been booked will proceed as scheduled, he confirmed.
