Operation Sundar: Airlines Services Halted in India Amidst 'Operation Sundar'

Flight Disruptions in Northern India Due to Operation Sundar
Following the rising tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after the execution of ‘Operation Sundar,’ significant disruptions occurred in flight operations across Northern India. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed the complete closure of Srinagar Airport, with no commercial flights operating from the region. Major cities like Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamsala were severely affected. Airlines including Indigo, SpiceJet, and Air India canceled or suspended their services to and from these cities. Passengers were urged to check the flight status before heading to the airport.

Background of Operation Sundar
Operation Sundar was carried out by India targeting militant camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Defence Ministry of India confirmed that nine such camps were attacked as part of the operation. This escalation in security concerns led to air traffic restrictions and the suspension of several flights in the affected regions.

Impact on Various Airlines
Several prominent airlines like Indigo, SpiceJet, and Air India announced the cancellation or suspension of their services due to the ongoing situation. Flights to and from cities such as Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, and Dharamsala were particularly impacted. SpiceJet issued an advisory informing passengers about flight cancellations to these cities, urging travelers to adjust their travel plans accordingly. Air India also canceled all flights to several cities, including Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar, until further notice. The airline redirected two international flights meant for Amritsar to Delhi. Travelers were advised to stay updated with the latest flight information from their respective airlines.
