Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg said he has spoken with Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran and offered full support after the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171. He confirmed that a special Boeing team is ready to assist the Indian government’s investigation.

“Our deepest condolences to the families of passengers, crew, and everyone affected in Ahmedabad,” Ortberg said on social media platform X. He also said Boeing will fully support the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) in the official inquiry.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated that a formal investigation has already begun, following international safety guidelines. He added that the government is setting up a high-level expert committee to look into the cause of the crash and to make flying safer in the future.

Air India CEO Campbell Wilson called it a very hard day for the airline. In his message on X, he said, “Our focus is on helping the passengers, crew members, and their families.” The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was on its way to London when it crashed shortly after takeoff, hitting a hostel near Ahmedabad airport where medical interns were staying.
