Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is approaching its worldwide release, but the film’s promotional campaign has yet to gather significant momentum. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, the ambitious Indian epic is among the most closely watched films currently in production.
With roughly a month remaining before the release, fans and trade circles are reportedly questioning the unusually quiet promotional activity. For a project of this scale, expectations were high for major promotional announcements and extensive publicity well before the final few weeks.
One possible explanation is that the makers may be deliberately holding back key promotional material. The trailer, songs and major promotional events could reportedly be planned for the final stretch before the film reaches theatres. However, the limited time available also creates a challenge, as a large-scale film generally needs sustained publicity to build awareness and maintain audience interest.
The international release could add another layer of competition. Ramayana is being positioned as a major IMAX and premium large-format (PLF) spectacle, while Godzilla Minus Zero is also scheduled to arrive during the same November period. Since premium-format screens are limited in overseas markets, both films could potentially compete for IMAX and other PLF shows.
The reported move to bring the overseas release forward to November 5 in some markets could help Ramayana avoid a direct release clash with Godzilla Minus Zero. However, that timing change does not address the broader question surrounding the film’s promotional rollout.
For now, the lack of major promotional activity remains noticeable with the release date approaching. Whether the silence is part of a deliberate strategy or reflects a delayed campaign, the makers have a relatively short window to create the global buzz expected from a film of this scale.
With Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash attached to the project, along with its ambitious scale and enormous expectations, Ramayana already has substantial attention around it. The remaining question is whether its promotional campaign will accelerate strongly enough in the final weeks to match that anticipation.
