Telangana Transport Department Hikes Fancy Number Fees – Big Shock to Vehicle Owners

The Telangana Transport Department has revised the base prices of fancy vehicle numbers, giving a big jolt to vehicle owners.

The most popular 9999 number, which earlier cost ₹50,000, will now cost ₹1.5 lakh. Similarly, the 6666 number has been increased from ₹30,000 to ₹1 lakh. These numbers will be allotted through auctions to the highest bidder.

The department has also increased the existing five slabs to seven, with new rates as follows:

• ₹1.5 lakh

• ₹1 lakh

• ₹50,000

• ₹40,000

• ₹30,000

• ₹20,000

• ₹6,000

With this revision, the Transport Department is expected to earn over ₹100 crore in additional annual revenue. The draft notification has been issued, and a final notification will be released after considering public objections and suggestions.
