Srisailam Project: Krishna River in Full Flow – 3 Lakh Cusecs Released Downstream

Due to continuous heavy rainfall in Karnataka and Maharashtra, the Krishna River is witnessing strong flood flow. A massive inflow of 2,89,670 cusecs of water is reaching the Srisailam reservoir from Sunkesula and Jurala projects. In response, authorities have released 3,02,478 cusecs of water from the reservoir.

Out of this, 2,16,520 cusecs of water is being released through 8 spillway gates. Additionally, 20,000 cusecs is being released through the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator, 35,315 cusecs from the Left Bank Powerhouse, and 30,643 cusecs from the Right Bank Powerhouse.

The current water level in the Srisailam reservoir is 882.80 feet, while the Full Reservoir Level (FRL) is 885 feet. The storage capacity of the reservoir is 215.80 TMC, and at present, it holds 203.42 TMC of water. Officials continue to monitor the situation and have issued flood alerts along the Krishna river.
