The Income Tax Department of India is introducing a major digital initiative called PAN 2.0. This project aims to combine all PAN-related services into one single portal. Until now, people had to visit different websites like the e-filing portal, UTIITSL, and Protean to access various PAN services. Now, with PAN 2.0, everything will be available in one place.
The government has assigned this massive project to leading IT company LTI Mindtree. The company will design, develop, and manage the platform. The new unified system is expected to go live within 18 months. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved ₹1,435 crore for this project.
With PAN 2.0, you can apply for a new PAN, make changes, link Aadhaar, reprint PAN, and verify details — all for free and paperless. Existing PAN cardholders don’t need to reapply. The e-PAN will be sent directly to your registered email. Currently, over 81 crore PAN cards and 73 lakh TANs are in use across the country.
