Foundation Stone of Noida Film City to Be Laid Today

Noida, June 26 – Uttar Pradesh is poised to embark on its most ambitious film and media project to date, as the foundation stone for the International Film City in Sector‑21, along the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, will be laid on Thursday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to perform the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ ceremony at 5 p.m., marking the official launch of the high-profile venture.

The project is being led by Bayview Bhutani Film City Pvt Ltd—a joint venture between veteran filmmaker Boney Kapoor and the Bhutani Group—in collaboration with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Boney Kapoor, members of the Bhutani family, and several Bollywood actors are expected to attend the groundbreaking ceremony.

The initiative represents a significant step in the state government’s efforts to transform Uttar Pradesh into a major hub for the film and media industry.

YEIDA had previously withheld approval due to unmet regulatory conditions, including the requirement for a 15 per cent green cover, structural safety clearances, and necessary no-objection certificates. After the developers revised their plans and fulfilled the stipulated criteria, the authority cleared the industrial component of the project, which spans 80 acres at its core.

Spread across 1,000 acres and to be developed in four phases over eight years, the International Film City is envisioned as a world-class destination for filmmaking, media production, and entertainment. The early phases will focus on core infrastructure, while later stages will introduce commercial and leisure facilities such as hotels, retail outlets, and recreational zones.

Phase one alone will cover approximately 230 acres and is projected to cost between ₹900 crore and ₹1,510 crore. It will feature key filmmaking facilities including 13 to 14 cutting-edge sound stages, a film and television institute, permanent outdoor sets, an underwater shooting studio, on-site accommodations for actors, a convention centre, and a film museum.

Officials estimate the project could generate up to five lakh direct and indirect jobs.

Strategically located near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, the Film City is expected to attract both domestic and international productions, enhancing Uttar Pradesh’s profile as a rising player in the global film and media landscape.
