G7 summit will concentrate on the global economy and energy security

Calgary, June 16: The Group of Seven (G7) summit has revealed a shortened agenda, focusing on the global economy and energy security.

Originally set to begin on Sunday, the summit will now run for two days starting Monday, as world leaders arrive in Kananaskis, Alberta, according to Xinhua news agency.

Monday’s agenda includes a 90-minute session for G7 leaders to discuss the global economic outlook, followed by a working lunch on energy security with invited guests.

The G7 is an informal group of major advanced economies—Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States—and the European Union. The annual summit is a platform to address major global economic and political challenges.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, this year’s host, has invited leaders from non-G7 nations, including Ukraine, Australia, India, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, the UAE, and South Africa.

Earlier on Sunday, the President of Cyprus posted on X:
"Today, we are building stronger ties and enhancing economic cooperation between Cyprus and India. Together, we are entering a new era of strategic partnership based on trust, shared values, and innovation. Our historical connection and forward-looking vision reflect a message of hope, collaboration, and prosperity."
