D Gukesh Stuns Magnus Carlsen with Brilliant Victory in Grand Chess Tour Rapid 2025

Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh delivered a strong reply through his game to world chess legend Magnus Carlsen, who earlier called him a “weak player.” Gukesh defeated Carlsen in the prestigious Grand Chess Tour Super United Rapid 2025 tournament held in Croatia. Playing with black pieces in the sixth round on Thursday, Gukesh shocked everyone with his powerful gameplay.

With this victory, Gukesh climbed to the top of the points table in the tournament. Before the tournament, Carlsen commented that Gukesh hadn’t proven himself in such elite events and considered him one of the weaker players. Gukesh’s win now stands as a powerful response to those remarks.

This is Gukesh’s fifth consecutive win in the tournament, which makes it even more special. Earlier, he defeated Uzbekistan’s Nodirbek Abdusattorov and American GM Fabiano Caruana. Though he lost his first match, Gukesh bounced back strongly and continued his winning streak with outstanding performance.
