Cyclone Impact: Storm Likely to Cross Odisha–North Andhra Coast; Srikakulam on High Alert

A cyclonic storm has formed southeast of Gopalpur, Odisha, and is expected to cross the Odisha–North Andhra coast this afternoon, according to Visakhapatnam Meteorological Department.

Strong winds with speeds of 45–55 kmph are expected along the coastal belt. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in North Andhra, while other coastal districts may also witness heavy rains.

Authorities in Srikakulam district have declared a holiday for all government and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centers. Rising flood levels in the Nagavali River are also being monitored.

Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and State Minister Atchannaidu have reviewed the situation with officials. District Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar has urged people to remain cautious and advised fishermen not to venture into the sea.
