BCCI Selection Committee: Two Former Stars Selected, Hyderabad Spinner in the Race

BCCI Senior Selection Committee to Get Two New Members
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to appoint two new members to the senior men’s selection committee. Former cricketers RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha have emerged as the frontrunners for these positions. Reports suggest that Hyderabad spinner Pragyan Ojha is almost certain to be selected under the South Zone quota.

With the tenure of Subroto Banerjee (Central Zone) and SS Sharath (South Zone) coming to an end, BCCI recently invited applications for the vacancies. Alongside RP Singh and Ojha, former players like Praveen Kumar, Ashish Winston Zaidi, and Shakti Singh are also in the race.

RP Singh was part of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad, while Pragyan Ojha claimed 113 wickets in his Test career. Interestingly, both of them played together for Deccan Chargers in the IPL and played crucial roles in helping the team win the 2009 title.

As per BCCI rules, only players who have played at least 7 Tests or 30 first-class matches and have completed five years post-retirement are eligible to join the selection panel. Since both RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha fulfill these criteria, their selection seems almost confirmed. An official announcement from BCCI is expected soon.
