Nagarjuna’s Classic ‘Shiva’ Returns to Theatres After 35 Years
The cult classic Shiva, starring Akkineni Nagarjuna and Amala, directed by Ram Gopal Varma (RGV), is all set to return to theatres. On the occasion of the film completing 35 glorious years, the producers have officially announced that Shiva will be re-released on November 14.
Originally released on October 5, 1989, Shiva created a revolution in Telugu cinema. Set against a college backdrop, this action-drama impressed audiences with its realistic storytelling, sound design, and intense fight sequences. The iconic scene featuring Nagarjuna wielding a bicycle chain became a cultural symbol among youth at the time.
The film marked a major turning point in Nagarjuna’s career, elevating him to superstar status. It also established Ram Gopal Varma as one of the most innovative filmmakers in Indian cinema. Later, RGV remade Shiva in Hindi, which went on to become a big success in Bollywood as well.
Now, after 35 years, fans are eagerly awaiting the re-release of this legendary film. Reports suggest that special promotional events and celebrations are being planned to mark the occasion. However, social media buzz claiming that the film will be screened for free without tickets has yet to be officially confirmed.
