Miss World Contestants Mesmerised by Iconic Charminar

Hyderabad, May 13: The iconic Charminar in Hyderabad left the Miss World contestants from 109 countries spellbound as they participated in a Heritage Walk and shopped for bangles and other ornaments in the renowned Laad Bazaar. The contestants, part of the ongoing 72nd Miss World pageant, were welcomed with traditional Marfa music, and some even danced to the rhythm of Arabic Marfa instruments.

The contestants had a special photo shoot at the Charminar, greeting the public with warm gestures and capturing the monument’s splendor on their mobile phones as they took part in the grand Heritage Walk. They later visited Laad Bazaar near Charminar, known for its bangles, pearl necklaces, and other ornaments. Some contestants observed the bangle-making process and appreciated the craftsmanship of the artisans.

Traders at Laad Bazaar, playing perfect hosts, refused to accept payment from the contestants for their purchases, offering them rose flowers instead. They encouraged the beauty queens to showcase the uniqueness of Hyderabad, particularly Charminar and Laad Bazaar, to their respective countries.

The contestants arrived at Charminar in special tourist buses and were warmly welcomed with a red-carpet reception by officials. A few contestants joined in the rhythmic beats, performing graceful dance moves to show their appreciation for the local culture.

Hyderabad’s rich cultural heritage and elegance were showcased to the world through this event. Afterward, the contestants attended a banquet hosted by the Telangana government at the Chowmahalla Palace, once the seat of the Nizams' governance. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, his family, ministers, public representatives, embassy officials, city dignitaries, and senior government officials were present at the banquet.

A short film titled ‘Chowmahalla Palace – Hyderabad Heritage’ was screened for the contestants, followed by a tour around the palace. They also viewed a photo exhibition highlighting the rich history and culture of Hyderabad. The contestants explored artefacts and military equipment from the Nizam era and learned about their unique features. Julia Morley CBE, Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, along with several contestants, shared their impressions at the banquet, offering deep appreciation for Telangana’s culture and the traditions of Hyderabad.
